About AEM

The Albanian Evangelical Mission was founded in 1986 to alert Christians in the UK to the needs of Albania. With the collapse of Communism in 1991, AEM found itself in the forefront of an urgent push to take the gospel of Jesus Christ into a country that was starving in more ways than one. Later, as partnerships were cemented in Kosova, a wider vision emerged, for all Albanian people to hear the good news of salvation. In recent years, AEM has sought to adapt in order to encourage Christian life and growth as God has established His church in these countries.

Some of the ways in which we try to help include:

  • Placing missionaries as God leads men and women from the West to go and work in the Balkans
  • Supporting local churches financially to allow them to support pastors, evangelists and other church workers, rent or buy buildings and run outreach projects
  • Producing literature in the Albanian language for use in evangelism or to encourage and stimulate believers. There is a special focus on providing resources for those who preach and teach
  • Organising conferences and seminars with the aim of creating and reinforcing a love of Biblical preaching and teaching
  • Encouraging local church projects aimed at relieving poverty and suffering with a special emphasis on helping vulnerable groups in society
  • Continuing to keep churches in the West informed about their Albanian brothers and sisters for mutual encouragement and to enable direct and helpful relationships between churches
  • Forming relationships with churches and individuals to encourage Albanian speaking Christians in the UK and to support all efforts to reach migrants of the Albanian ‘diaspora’ with the gospel in their native language
